Susanna Reid is 'more sensitive' after enduring emotional coronavirus lockdown

Susanna Reid has opened up about the effects the lockdown period has had on her.

The Good Morning Britain co-anchor said that things had become “more raw and emotional” since the country faced a period of uncertainty in March.

While judging the contenders for this year’s Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain awards – the breakfast show host faced a tough decision on who should be celebrated.

She revealed that the world was currently in “a weird sensitive place,” due to the ongoing lockdown restrictions.

“Everything feels that little bit more raw and emotional,” she told Mirror Online.

The 49-year-old went on to add: “There’s so much we’ve all experienced but we want to celebrate those people who have done incredible things but we also need something light to put a smile on our faces.”

Susanna also admitted that 2020 has been one of the hardest years to judge the Pride of Britain awards.

“It’s an incredibly difficult experience because every single person who is nominated deserves an award,

“You have older people who have gone through a lifetime struggle and you’ve got little children who’ve just had a raw experience and a bad stroke of experience. It is so hard to choose… But this year was definitely the toughest year,” she said.

While the country may be facing new restrictions which are set to be implemented on Thursday, Susanna admitted that despite the circumstances – this year’s ceremony was going to be a roaring success.

“It’s a unifying night where we all go wow these people are incredible they have overcome difficult experiences, sometimes they have succumbed and other people are fundraising as a result.

“We just remind ourselves what is brilliant about the British spirit and I’m so glad they are going ahead. It will be different but it’ll be just as special.”
