This Morning's Eamonn Holmes takes savage swipe at 'rubbish' Charlotte Hawkins

Eamonn Holmes took a cheeky swipe at Charlotte Hawkins on Friday’s This Morning, branding her Strictly performance as “rubbish”.

The 45-year-old GMB star appeared on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2017, partnering up with pro dancer Brendan Cole only to get eliminated in the fourth week of the competition.

On today’s This Morning, the conversation turned to Ruth Langsford’s own appearance on Strictly, as she competed against Charlotte three years ago.

While neither ITV star won the coveted Glitterball Trophy, Ruth was eliminated weeks after Charlotte, getting axed by judges and landing in seventh place.

Ahead of an interview with Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse on today’s show, Ruth said: “The judge is going to be sharing her thoughts ahead of the first elimination.”

Wincing at the prospect of an elimination, Ruth made it clear she had sympathy for the first celebrity to get knocked out of the competition.

Defending his wife, Eamonn remarked: “But you weren’t the first to go out. It was only rubbish people like Charlotte Hawkins.”

Swiftly changing the subject, Ruth quickly veered the conversation to Ranvir Singh’s performance on Strictly, adding: “Don’t be mean.”

She added: “Listen Ranvir is doing well. Ranvir was amazing last week, and she’s literally had no dance training.”

Eamonn later tried to make up for the swipe, calling Charlotte “angelic” on the show (Image: ITV)

Later, Eamonn tried to take back what he said about Charlotte, saying: “In fairness to my friend Charlotte, she was brilliant the first week, she was brilliant.

“She went out the second week.

Claiming Charlotte was “angelic,” he then took another swipe at her performance, adding he had been wrong to think she could win the competition.

He said: “I looked at Charlotte and I thought ‘she’s going to win this, she’s brilliant’.

“That shows how stupid I am, really.”

This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
