It was announced today that Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has tested positive for coronavirus.
According to reports, Johnson, 55, has mild symptoms and will self-isolate at Number 10 Downing Street, where he has been holding a daily COVID-19 conference in recent weeks.
Celebrities such as Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan and Love Island Dr Alex George have now had their say on the matter.
Writing on Twitter, Piers said: “Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus. Now self-isolating at No10, but will still handle Govt. handling of crisis. Wish him well, and also wish he gets our NHS health workers the same test – fast.”
Getting a bit more light-hearted, Piers then joked he was “ready to serve” as PM, as he shared a photo of himself and Susanna Reid outside 10 Downing Street.
Piers’ GMB co-star Ranvir Singh also added: “Now Boris Johnson will have to isolate from his pregnant fiancé Carrie Symonds after testing positive.”

The Apprentice star Lord Alan Sugar meanwhile wished the PM well, saying: “Wishing @BorisJohnson a speedy recovery.”
While Love Island’s Dr Alex George added: “PM Boris Johnson has confirmed he has tested positive for coronavirus. I wish him a speedy recovery.”
Radio 1 DJ Greg James also had his say on the matter. He told followers: “Five minutes on Twitter. A story about a morgue being overrun by coffins, a little dose of anti-semitism and ohhh brilliant…Boris Johnson now has corona.
“It’s important to keep up to date and not bury your head in the sand but I’m off back to bed. Until 2024.”
Officials have reportedly told the BBC Johnson will still be charge of leading the government’s handling of the deadly crisis.
Advisors of the Prime Minister have now reportedly been forced to go into isolation, including Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

The PM was last seen in public on the steps of Downing Street on Thursday night as he joined Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, for a celebratory clap to the National Health Service.
Earlier in the day, he had addressed the nation alongside the Chancellor, and announced government aid for self-employed workers.
The UK had its deadliest day yesterday, as NHS England confirmed a further 107 people who tested positive died from the disease.
