What made it even more incredible was when one of the choir’s star’s revealed that her brother, who was also a choir member, was told he would never be able to communicate, so he had defied all odds.

At the end of the performance, Simon revealed that he knew one of the singers on stage.

He said: “I have to confess I have a friend of mine in this lineup Ella.

“At the Pride of Britain I saw Ella sing and I said I have a feeling one day you’ll sing on one of my shows.”

Ella was delighted Simon recognised her and excitedly waved at the Britain’s Got Talent judge.

So impressed were the judges that David Walliams gave them his golden buzzer, which rarely happens so early on in a series.

David’s fellow judges applauded him for his pick, as he is known to traditionally pick more polarising acts.

And viewers at home also seemed to agree with David’s golden buzzer choice, as they flocked to Twitter to share their delight.

A third added: “This stunning performance by Sign Along with Us defines #heartwarming & is our heartwarming story of the day & possibly the #bankholiday weekend. Congratulations!”
