Corrie actor Bruno Langley embarks on music career as he's replaced on show

Former Coronation Street actor Bruno Langley teased a sample of his new single on the same night the ITV soap introduced the actor replacing him.

Todd Grimshaw made an explosive return to the cobbles on Friday night, with The Arches actor Gareth Pierce taking on the role.

Bruno, 37, was axed from the ITV soap three years ago after he admitted to grabbing the crotches of two women in a Manchester bar in 2017.

Since being given the boot from Corrie, Langley has been working as a portrait photographer and it appears he’s trying his hand at being a singer.

Sharing the artwork for his new track Collide, the shamed actor wrote on Instagram: “I hope everyone is doing ok.

“It’s been a while since i released any work, so here it is. Stream ‘Collide’ on #applemusic #spotify #googleplay #amazon.”

Coronation Street fans were quick to notice the questionable timing of the song’s release with one tweeting: “How weird of you to do a new post on the same night that Corrie introduces the ‘new’ Todd – who is rubbish by the way.”

Bruno’s old Corrie pal and on-screen brother Ryan Thomas, who played Jason Grimshaw, was quick to show his support as he shared the post with his 1.1 million followers.

In October 2017, a Coronation Street spokesperson confirmed that Langley’s contract had been terminated.

Greater Manchester Police later announced that he had been charged with two counts of sexual assault to which he pleaded guilty to on November 28 2017.

Langley was sentenced to a 12-month community order at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.

The disgraced actor was written out of the show with Todd being sent on the run after assaulting a police officer.

Bosses have made sure there will be no sighting of Langley on the cobbles by replacing all the old pictures of Todd with photos of Gareth.

Speaking to The Sun Online ahead of his Corrie debut, Gareth said: “The on-set family photos in the Grimshaws – all the Todd ones are from my childhood but mixed in with Ryan’s as Jason.”

Gareth was announced as the “new” Todd by Corrie bosses in August.

Bruno had starred in the soap as Eileen Grimshaw’s son for 17 years.

Todd’s return to Weatherfield had been highly-anticipated by fans as a result, with Gareth making his debut appearance on Friday.

Just minutes before his arrival, police had told a horrified Eileen they had found a body that they believed to be Todd’s.

While at the warehouse, the pair were left facing immediate danger after a mystery man, who is known to Todd, turned up and threatened them, proving that his life is still embroiled in trouble.

Todd later tried to convince his mother to go and identify the dead body and tell police it was him.

Coronation Street continues on ITV on Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm
