Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has suffered yet more coronavirus heartbreak after his wife’s Grandma died of the virus.
Simon’s wife Emma took to social media on Good Friday to confirm the tragic news.
Emma tweeted: “881 people lost their lives today, one of those beautiful souls was my grandma!!
“Heartbroken… #stayathome Fly High Grandma… We love you.”
Earlier this week Simon, who plays Steve MacDonald in the hit ITV soap, opened up to fans about suffering from the virus.

Earlier this year ITV bosses made the difficult decision to talk products of Coronation Street in a bid to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Just a few days ago producers confirmed they have been forced to furloughed countless staff due to the virus.
A spokesperson for ITV told Digital Spy: “Because the soaps have shut down, members of the crew have been notified that their roles are being furloughed in line with the government’s scheme for those who can’t work during the coronavirus crisis.”
The move is understood to have affect 250 crew members. Furloughed staff are believed to be receiving their full ITV salary.
