Coronation Street fans were left smitten by Evelyn Plummer’s new look on Friday night, as she underwent a makeover in the salon.
However, one eagle-eyed Corrie fan delved into the past and dug up a stunning portrait of actress Maureen Lipman from long ago – proving she’s always been a knockout.
The snap, which was taken in 1970, shows a 23-year-old Maureen smiling into the camera, her brunette locks styled into a beehive.
By way of makeup for the black-and-white portrait, she worked fluttery false lashes, and lashings of pale lipstick.
A high-necked retro gown, complete with a sleeveless design, topped off the effortlessly beautiful look.
After laying eyes on the stunning snap, one smitten fan wrote: “I think Evelyn looked loovelah!”

And a second chimed: “I said to myself, she looked really pretty last night, and I bet she was a stunner when younger. Not wrong!”
At the time, Maureen would have been just beginning her acting career, landing a role in various productions with the National Theatre Company.
In the decades that followed, the 73-year-old has enjoyed a hugely successful career on stage and screen.
Today, she is best known as Corrie’s hilarious grandmother Evelyn, famous for her witty one-liners and curmudgeonly attitude.
On Friday, Claudia Colby (Rula Lenska) gave her a makeover, transforming her hair into a bouffant and lining her lips with an exotic fuchsia lippy.
Unfortunately, Evelyn was less than pleased, as she exclaimed: “You’ve made me look like a chihuahua in a wind tunnel.”

Meanwhile, fans at home were left swooning, with one remarking: “Wow. Evelyn. Looking good.”
And another agreed: “Evelyn looks beautiful.”
