EastEnders fans distracted from Whitney kidnap plot by major phone blunder

EastEnders ‘ Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) was left panicking about how she was going to escape the clutches of Leo King’s mum Michaela after being taken hostage.

The EastEnders cast member was trapped in her flat, and things were made worse as Michael heard Whitney’s second phone ringing in her bag.

She had been giving a burner phone by Max Branning in case she needed help, and as Max thought she had run away, he was clearly ringing her to find out where she was.

Her first one had been taken, and Whitney screamed for help as she picked up the phone to Max before Michaela smashed it.

Fans were left baffled about why Whitney didn’t call the police on the phone straight away, as she could’ve called 999 without any credit needed.

One fan posted: “Whitney had that phone the whole time? And didn’t use it?”

Another added: “So whitney had that fully operating burner phone.. all that time?”

A third chipped in: “If Whitney had a phone all this time…why didn’t she use it?”

A fourth wrote: “If Whitney has a second phone why not use it to call police?”

Michaela found Whitney’s second phone – but fans wondered why Whitney didn’t use it before

Max heard Whitney’s cries before the call was ended, so hopefully he will soon be on the way to save the character.

Meanwhile, Whitney was sickened as she discovered as she realised that Michaela knew that Tony King was indeed a paedophile.

Michaela slipped up as she revealed that she was the one to leave Tony, not the other way round.

Michaela admitted that she knew that Tony was a paedophile

Whitney was horrified as she worked out that she was raped and abused by Tony because Michaela decided to not report him.

What is she going to do with her?

And will she end up in prison for killing Leo King?

EastEnders continues on Monday at 8pm on BBC.
