EastEnders' Jake Wood ditches Max Branning alter-ego with buff transformation

EastEnders ‘ filming has been suspended for weeks, giving Jake Wood plenty of time to work on his pecs.

The 47-year-old soap star shared a buff selfie with his followers today, keeping them up to date with his fitness transformation during the lockdown.

Jake, who plays Max Branning on EastEnders, revealed exercise has been helping him to “get through” the Covid-19 quarantine period.

Sharing a shirtless snap, he proved the hours spent toiling away during his home workouts has paid off.

Flexing his muscles, the flame-haired actor looked ripped to shreds as he tensed for the camera.

Praising exercise as a mood-booster, he said: “Happy Tuesday everyone. I think it’s safe to say that exercise is getting me through this.

“Stay positive and I look forward to seeing you all on the other side.”

The buff snap was bombarded with compliments from Jake’s celeb pals and fans alike, as they took turns in swooning over his rock-hard new physique.

Dan Osbourne gushed: “Looking unbelievably well mate!! Well done!”

While I’m A Celeb ‘s Cliff Parisi chimed: “Go on Jake.”

Former EastEnders star Dean Gaffney was clearly impressed, as he simply wrote the word “wow” under the beefy selfie.

Improving his fitness over recent weeks, Jake has been heading out on woodland runs to help him stay in shape.

On top of that, his love for boxing has increased tenfold, with the soap star presenting a boxing podcast titled “Pound for Pound”.

The dad-of-two even plans to bring the sport to TV, with a series of celebrity boxing matches in the works.

Speaking to The Sun last month, Jake said: “We have a TV company looking at it at the moment. It would be celebrities boxing on TV. I think the time is right for it.

“You see celebrities train for things like Strictly Come Dancing and we think it would work as it is a great sport. It would be great TV.

“The idea is to train celebs from scratch and you would have proper trainers. It could be the best of three rounds.

“You could have anyone on the show. It would be like EastEnders versus Coronation Street.”
