“This tough decision has been made with the continued safety and well-being of his fans at a time when health services are under increased pressure and with the concern that these gatherings continue to risk accelerating the spread of the Coronavirus [COVID-19].”

Previously speaking to Daily Star Online about the tour, Elton’s husband David Furnish said: “He wanted to do a long farewell tour as he says there are a lot of people he wants to say goodbye to.
“He just doesn’t want to travel around the world any more… he really finds it hard on him, it takes him away from him family.
“Our children are getting older, they aren’t little babies anymore, they are little people and they have needs and wishes and it’s hard to do that from the other side of the world.”
