GMB's Piers Morgan pokes fun at Matt Hancock as show airs cringey karaoke clip

Piers Morgan appeared to poke fun at Matt Hancock during today’s Good Morning Britain as the show broadcasted a video of the politician doing karaoke.

The Secretary of State, 41, was seen belting out Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now in an unearthed video clip from October 2017.

Hancock was clearly having the time of his life as he sang his heart out alongside fellow Tory MP Thérèse Coffey.

Before playing the clip, Piers said: “If you are of a sensitive disposition, we are about to show some footage of Health Secretary Matt Hancock and Thérèse ‘wake up and never smell the’ Coffey, which is so horrific, you may want to protect your children, your elderly, certainly the infirm.

“This is not something that should be watched casually, this is something to brace yourself for.”

Piers poked fun after seeing the clip, as he joked: “They both clearly in the clip believe their nailing it. Everybody watching it thinks they’re a train wreck.

“Is that a metaphor for the state of our government?”

Piers continued, taking another swipe: “There’s bad and then there’s bad… and this is bad.”

Viewers were divided over the GMB presenter’s reaction to the video.

Some found it “petty” that he was making fun of Hancock.

One said: “New petty lows on @GMB today. @piersmorgan @susannareid100 showing a clip of Matt Hancock singing badly doing karaoke. Just how tedious is this show now?!? FFS!!! Switching over now!!!”

While another wrote: “Really @GMB and @piersmorgan you have to dig up old karaoke footage of Matt Hancock to make a point, what it is I doubt anyone knows.”

“#GMB karaoke is not supposed to be good it’s just drunken fun and it’s cheap and tacky to make insults about it just because Matt Hancock is singing”, added a third.

Others found the video as hilarious as Piers did, with one writing: “Have I just witnessed Matt Hancock singing karaoke “Don’t stop me now”? tee hee LOVE it.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
