TV presenter Lucy Alexander opened up about the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out Scheme on social media and wanted the same initiative to be used for gyms.
The Government introduced the dining deal, offering 50% off food bills on selective days throughout August, and has seen an upturn in people visiting restaurants post-lockdown.
Taking to social media, the Homes Under the Hammer star, 50, suggested a “Help Out to Workout” scheme should be implemented, as she says she can’t afford to splash the cash on a hefty gym membership while she is not working.
But her comments upset one fan, who quickly queried her idea on how she can afford to pay to dine out.

She wrote: “After so much eating out which I’ve loved now we need a new scheme ‘help out to workout’ ( so we can stay healthy) can we have a reduction mon-weds off gyms too please?
“I can’t really afford my £75 per month membership while I’m not employed or working #helpouttoworkout.”
The TV presenter was quickly inundated with users echoing her sentiments.
“It would be infinitely more sensible for the health of the nation,” one wrote.
While another added: “Great idea. Even if initially for 3 months?”
However, not everyone was happy with her comments as one user fumed: “You can afford to eat out though.”

Lucy clapped back, writing: “Yes because it’s half price and I need to eat?”
However, the user continued, and replied: “But you could do a brisk walk or jog which is free and it’s still cheaper to cook a meal than eat out at half price.”
One fan backed Lucy, writing: “I think she’s just having a laugh mate.”
