Keith Lemon makes sly dig at Melanie Sykes after her 'limited vocabulary' jibe

Keith Lemon has hit back at Melanie Sykes after she said he had a “limited vocabulary” in a pointed interview over the weekend.

The Celebrity Juice host doesn’t seem to be letting the comment go, as he hit back on Twitter after attempting to sort things out privately.

The 47-year-old told his followers: “I reached out to her and asked why she didn’t like me. She said, ‘It’s not you, it’s your on-screen persona’.”

Getting in his own sly dig at Mel, Keith continued: “Well if anyone’s watching and you have a limited vocabulary, you can still win two BAFTAs and two NTAs. I don’t want to boast about all the things I’ve won.”

Keith, the character created by comedian Leigh Francis, has won a number of awards including the Entertainment Performance award for Celebrity Juice at the TV BAFTAs in 2016.

The offending comments that Mel made hit out at Keith for seemingly influencing the way men speak to women.

She said: “Sadly, in all realms of life, most men are pretty basic and disappointing.

“I feel a bit sorry for British men who have adopted the limited vocabulary of the television character Keith Lemon when talking about and to women.”

She went on: “I would be surprised, and indeed it would be a miracle, if any of these men are actually getting laid.”

Keith tried to make a joke out of the whole situation during an Instagram Live, in which he suggested there might be an I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Bushtucker Trial inspired by it.

He told his fans: “You might be stuck in a dungeon with Mel Sykes, who says you’ve got a limited vocabulary and you’ve got to convince her that you know loads of words.”

Sadly, that doesn’t seem likely, as she took part in the 14th series of I’m A Celebrity back in 2014.

Mel finished in third place behind runner-up Jake Quickenden and eventual winner Carl Fogarty.
