Coronation Street ‘s ongoing domestic abuse storyline between married couple Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) and Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King) is set to take a sinister turn this week.
Soap star Ian Bartholomew, who plays evil Geoff, appeared on Good Morning Britain today to chat to presenter Lorraine Kelly about the harrowing storyline.
Yasmeen has been coercively controlled by manipulative Geoff for over a year and she will be pushed to breaking point and stab her abusive husband in self-defence in upcoming episodes.
Evil radio presenter Geoff has broken down Yasmeen’s self-esteem to the point where she struggles to do anything without his permission and has lost friends, family and access to her own money over him.
Speaking to Lorraine via video link this morning, Ian told the Scottish presenter that his children haven’t been watching the serial drama as they don’t want to see their dad “being nasty all the time”.
Ian said: “It’s been difficult. He is not the sort of person I want to be or be around.
“My kids are not watching. They couldn’t watch after Geoff locked Yasmeen in a box.”
The actor went on to discuss that he doesn’t know when the cast will return to set to film new episodes as the country remains in coronavirus lockdown.
Just as Ian went on to praise Lorraine and describe has a “living legend”, the TV presenter was forced to apologise to the actor and abruptly cut the interview as the programme came to an end.
Taking to Twitter, ITV viewers were not happily at Lorraine “rudely” cutting off Ian.
One fan penned: “Cutting Ian off with six minutes to spare for the adverts.”
Another ranted: “Ian got cut off by Lorraine he’s not going to be happy.”

A third added: “How rude cutting Ian the actor who plays Geoff off this morning whilst he was speaking.”
A fourth added: “Poor Ian. That’s not fair.”
Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that Yasmeen will find the courage to leave Geoff in upcoming scenes but all will go horribly wrong and she will be charged with attempted murder.
Viewers of the ITV soap will be left devastated as Yasmeen struggles to get people to believe what Geoff has done to her for months.
Will Yasmeen get the help she deserves or will she be sentenced to time behind bars?
Coronation Street continues on ITV tonight at 7.30pm and Good Morning Britain with Lorraine airs weekly on ITV at 6am
