Meghan Markle birthday blunder leaves ITV Lorraine viewers fuming

Lorraine host Christine Lampard celebrated Meghan Markle ’s birthday on today’s show, as the Duchess of Sussex turns 39.

However, as they paid tribute to the special occasion, ITV misspelt her name in a heartfelt birthday tribute.

Sharing video footage of the former Suits star, the message “Happy Birthday Megan,” appeared on the screen.

Sadly, Meghan’s name was spelt wrong, dropping the “h” in favour of an incorrect spelling of her name.

Spotting the blunder, disappointed viewers took to their keyboards, fuming at Lorraine producers over the typo.

One said: “@lorraine how do you manage to spell Meghan wrong?”

A second added: “Another example of the unconscious bias against Meghan #Markle in the British #media – @lorraine not even having the respect to spell her name right just now @ITV.”

Later in the episode, ITV managed to spell Meghan’s name correctly, as they wished her “happy birthday” for a second time.

Joined by Royal expert Russell Myers, Christine discussed Meghan’s blowout birthday, as the actress celebrates the final year of her thirties.

She said: “On happier news, it’s a Royal birthday!”

After discussing the recent Royal biography Finding Freedom, Christine suggested Meghan and Harry should enjoy a low-key celebration for her special day.

She said: “I’m guessing they should just stay at home and have a nice quiet day.”

Royal expert Russell replied: “I’m told they’re going to have a nice quiet day.”

He later discussed the family’s beloved dog, saying: “They have revealed for the first time the name of the dog.

“Apparently it’s called Pula which is the currency of Botswana.”

Realising the special meaning behind the name – relating to Meghan and Harry’s third date – Christine added: “It means a lot to them.

“We like those details don’t we! It takes away from that stuff that maybe I don’t want to hear.”

Lorraine airs on weekdays at 9am on ITV
