This Morning host Phillip Schofield was sent into a tizzy on today’s instalment of the ITV chat show when a squirrel received a vigorous head rub.
Phillip and Holly Willoughby welcomed psychologist Emma Kenny on the show, as she discussed her new pet squirrel Junior.
The This Morning resident rescued the grey squirrel from the wild, after discovering it had been suffering from pneumonia.
Taking the orphaned squirrel home with her, Emma made sure the baby animal got the medical attention it so desperately needed.
She said: “He’s got a cage at the moment in the bedroom and the point is at the moment is he’s too little to go anywhere without us.”

Before adding: “It takes a lot of work but it’s Mother Nature – he deserves to be given a chance.”
As she chatted with hosts Holly and Phillip, she rubbed the adorable little creature’s head as he nestled in her arms.
Phillip grew alarmed over the rubbing, as he shouted: “You’re going to rub its head off.”
Flinging his hands to the side of his head in panic, he yelled: “What the hell! Stop it, stop it!”
Signing the interview off, Phillip remarked that the squirrel was “certainly well rubbed”.

Emma later appeared on the show for a call-in session with viewers, offering a few pearls of wisdom to those struggling during the lockdown.
Even though viewers were meant to call in about their battle with anxiety during the lockdown, Emma noticed a number of callers were more concerned about the squirrel.
She noted: “We’ve got lots of calls about it.”

Assuring viewers the squirrel was in good health, she added: “The head is alright.”
Driving the point home, Phillip shared a video of the healthy little squirrel running around Emma’s house, delighted having made his first TV appearance.
