Piers Morgan has given an update on his Good Morning Britain co-star Kate Garraway’s husband as Derek continues to battle Covid-19.
The Good Morning Britain presenter said that Derek Draper, 52, is “fighting for his life” as he continues to battle coronavirus after seven weeks in ICU.
Derek was taken into hospital back in March on the 30th and, nearly 7 weeks later, sadly remains in a critical care unit.
Speaking on talkRADIO, Kate’s co-star Piers revealed that Derek is still in the ICU ward as he discussed how he personally has been affected by coronavirus.
He told Kevin O’Sullivan: “I have a cousin whose father died of coronavirus.

“Had another friend of mine – a TV producer who I’ve worked on foreign assignments – whose mum died in a care home last week.”
The controversial news presenter then went on to say that as he spoke Derek was still fighting for his life.
Piers continued: “I’ve had Kate Garraway, who’s the Good Morning Britain co-presenter of mine – her husband Derek Draper is fighting for his life as we speak and has been for many weeks in an ICU unit.

“So I’ve been personally affected by this, by the sheer volume of friends of mine and family who have been directly impacted in the most horrific manner.
“So yeah, I do feel a personal attachment to this story. But I think most people, if they have a conscience, should.”
A fortnight ago, Good Morning Britain hosts Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh gave viewers an update on Derek’s condition.

After reading out Kate’s latest Twitter update on Derek, Ben said: “It’s a dreadful time and I think she’s at home with two children and trying to keep it going.
“It’s a total unknown. But as she said, as long as he’s here there’s absolute hope.”
He added: “Twenty four hours at a time and she rightly pointed out, he’s getting extraordinary care, she gets the chance to phone in the evenings and talk to him.”
