Ricky Gervais is never afraid of voicing his opinions – and this time the comedian is taking aim at people over cats.
The former Golden Globes host, 58, took to his Twitter page to take part in a 22-minute-long Periscope live stream with his 14.2 million followers.
Gervais believes that people are not adopting black cats for fears they will ruin their online social media pages.
The After Love star didn’t hold back in his scathing rant which has since been viewed over 138,000 times by his loyal followers.
When asked about cats, Ricky replied: “Black cats, adopt a black cat.

“They’re always the last in rescue centres.”
He continued: “Now, I thought it was because of superstition which for some people it was.
“But no, it’s because they don’t photograph well in selfies, people actually don’t want a black cat because they don’t Instagram well.

“I mean, there are some f***ing idiots in the world, aren’t there?
“If you’re going to get a pet, get a rescue if you’re going to get a cat, get a little black cat is my advice.”
Known for his love of animals, Ricky recently admitted that he fell in love with his German Shepherd co-star while on the set of After Life.

Sadly, Ricky and his wife Jane Fallon, 59, lost their beloved feline Ollie last month.
They had been gifted the moggy by chat show host pal, Jonathan Ross while appearing on the show back in 2003.
Ollie had his own Twitter page, which boasted over 60,000 followers.
Announcing the news via social media, Ricky said: “Just had to say goodbye to the sweetest little soul I’ve ever known. RIP Ollie.”
The actor also hit out at celebrities in lavish homes moaning while NHS workers die from coronavirus.
