Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell spotted a budding star on tonight’s episode, as he hit the golden buzzer in a fervour.
The 60-year-old music mogul was moved when a young performer from Swindon appeared on the stage, reminding him of certain “negative” parts of his childhood.
Fayth Ifil, 12, revealed she was feeling nervous ahead of the show, saying: “I was like ‘oh my days is this even real’.”
Resting his hand under his chin, Simon asked: “Can I ask you a question, have you ever had moments where you’ve lost your confidence? I’m really curious.”
Bravely opening up, Fayth replied: “I have lost my confidence a little bit with a bit of negative energy from different schools.
“But my mum and my dad, they helped me get through that which is why I’m here today.”
With the judges wishing her luck, Fayth launched into an incredible rendition of Tina Turner’s Rollin’ on the River.
Her voice blew the audience away, leading all four judges to get to their feet in a standing ovation.
Simon announced: “You know what I love about you Fayth? I absolutely love your personality.
“Just to give you a little bit more support, I’m going to give you one of those.”
Simon slammed his fist down on the golden buzzer, letting the shards of gold confetti fall to the stage.
Fayth burst into tears, rushing to her wrap her mum in a hug, overjoyed to receive the coveted golden buzzer accolade.
Leaving his seat, Simon wrapped her up in a hug, letting her know he related to her struggles at school.
Comparing her to Tina Turner, he said: “With you, you could sing the phone book!
“The was such an amazing performance.”
Referring to her struggle to fit in, he said: “Enjoy every moment. I asked the question if you’ve ever had any negativity because when I grew up I had that as well. The most important thing is they never get to you.
“When you’re as good as you are, you win.”
Offering her consolation, he added: “If anyone ever says anything negative remember this moment.”
Britain’s Got Talent airs on Saturdays at 8pm on ITV.
