Alastair Campbell managed to rub up Good Morning Britain viewers the wrong way as he returned to the show on Wednesday.
The 64-year-old writer and strategist will appeared alongside Susanna Reid to discuss news headlines from across the UK.
To mark England’s upcoming clash with Denmark in the Euro semi-final, Alastair decided to show his support to the boys.
He played football anthem “It’s Coming Home” on the bagpipes not once but twice.
Alastair, whose father is Scottish, played a couple of tunes on his bagpipe, however, those watching at home were divided by his musical offering.
Some fans loved the early morning rendition, others struggled to listen and switched over to another channel.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Absolutely loving @campbellclaret playing bagpipes on #GMB.”
Another added: “Someone get those bagpipes and throw them in the Thames.”
A third person posted: “It was really Lovely and came without warning so a pleasant surprise.”
While a fourth social media user said: “I never watch #GMB and switching on to see Alastair Campbell playing the bagpipes confirms why.”
Dr Hilary Jones jokingly covered his years as Alastair played the Scottish instrument while Susanna watched on as her co-host showed off his hidden talent.
GMB turned awkward at the top of the programme as a guest called host Alastair the completely wrong name.
England upcoming Euro semi-final clash with Denmark was the main topic of discussion during the latest edition of the ITV breakfast show.
Susanna and Alastair were joined by guests in the studio as well as sports journalist Darren Lewis via a video link.
Things took a bizarre turn when Darren mistakenly called Alastair “Andrew” during the conversation.
Speaking about the highly-anticipated match, Darren said: “The numbers are in their favour and, I love the fact Andrew you’ve done your homework, we haven’t conceded a goal so far in the competition.”
Alastair interrupted: “Did he call me Andrew?”
Co-host Susanna, 50, confirmed: “Yeah.”
GMB contributor Andrew Price, who was in the studio, joked: “You’re gonna sue over that.”
