Batman actor Robert Pattinson’s stuntman has tested positive for Covid-19, with his bubble now having to isolate for ten days, according to reports on Wednesday.
This is the third time in five months that coronavirus has impacted production of the £90million blockbuster.
According to The Sun, the crew were no longer able to film action scenes at Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire after the stunt double contracted the virus.
The Batman, which also stars Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Colin Farrell as the evil Penguin, has already faced substantial delays after production was suspended for six months in March last year amid the global pandemic.
Twilight star, Robert, 34, tested positive for the virus back in September, with filming for the Hollywood flick being temporarily shut down as a result. This incident occurred just days after filming continued following the first lockdown in March.
The Hollywood actor is understood to have turned up on set with a temperature and subsequently had to stay away from filming for 14 days while he recovered.
The production crew reportedly worked ‘round the clock’ to try and film scenes without Robert.
Another stunt double contracted Covid in November, forcing the daredevil and his bubble to isolate.
This led to further delays which ruined plans to shoot high-octane action scenes at the studios.
A source told the publication: “Shooting a blockbuster of this scale is difficult enough without the threat of Covid looming large.
“While this proves Warner Bros’ testing regime is working, having so many people away from set for ten days is a headache the studio could do without, especially when they are relying on the stunt team to deliver the film’s most spectacular scenes.”
The source continued: “The movie is still on track to wrap next month and when it does, I think everyone will be breathing a sigh of relief.”
The Batman’s release date has been pushed forward twice and is now set at March 4, 2022 due to the pandemic.
This is nearly nine months after it was originally due to hit cinemas.
