BBC Breakfast turned frosty on Saturday morning as host Charlie Stayt quizzed weather presenter Matt Taylor on his predictions ahead of England’s clash with Ukraine.
Rachel Burden was back on the famous sofa to step in for Naga Munchetty once again to bring the latest news headlines alongside Charlie.
With football fever setting into the studio ahead of England and Ukraine’s big game in the upcoming Euro 2020 quarter-final in Rome, Charlie asked co-star Matt for his predictions on the game.
Rachel quickly blasted Charlie for putting Matt on the spot.
The moment came just seconds after Matt had delivered a rather disappointing weather update, informing viewers that wind and rain was on the way for much of the country.
Matt signed off his report after offering the day’s forecast but Charlie quickly interjected.
“This is the moment, Matt, your opportunity to tell us what the score’s going to be tonight,” Charlie asked.
He added: “There you go, lay it out for us” catching Matt off-guard as he took a deep breath.
“Oh, that’s harsh, isn’t it?,” Matt said as he tried to conjure up an answer.
“2-1, there you go”, the metrologist eventually said, prompting Charlie to probe even further.
He asked: “2-1 to who?”
The weatherman hesitated before confirming he meant for England.
Charlie said: “Just checking, he’s put it on the record, there we go,” before he turned to Rachel – who was less than impressed with the grilling.
“Why would you put him on the spot like that?” Rachel asked Charlie.
Matt hit back in as he too took aim at Charlie’s behaviour. “”He always does it, Rachel, it’s his Saturday fun.”
Charlie quickly replied: “I think that’s a perfectly fair question.”

However, Rachel wasn’t so sure and blasted Charlie again as she quipped: “You’re harder on him than you are on politicians!
“He’s a weatherman! “A meteorologist.”
Charlie added: “Can I just point out? Matt just gave us a very clear and straightforward answer, didn’t he? There you go.
Rachel went on to put Charlie on the spot by asking him for his predictions on the big match, and he replied: “I actually, curiously, I entirely agree with Matt about the score.
“Because I think it’s 2-1, I think England are gonna score the first goal, there’s gonna be an equaliser and then it’s gonna come good.”
