BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty blown away by Bez's weight loss transformation

Naga Munchetty was left gobsmacked on Thursday morning, as Happy Mondays star Bez showed off his incredible body transformation.

Bez appeared on BBC Breakfast to discuss his new music and how lockdown impacted both his career and physical health, chatting to Naga and Charlie Stayt on the red sofa.

The legendary maraca player announced he would soon be taking part in a celebrity boxing competition after shedding more than a stone after lockdown drove him to binge on cider and chocolate.

“You take your fitness quite seriously, don’t you, because during lockdown there was attention on that,” Charlie said.

Bez explained: “We did the Buzzin’ with Bez and that was the start of my journey into fitness, because during the first lockdown I spent a lot of time drinking cider, eating cake and chocolates.

“I got myself up to 14 stone almost, and now I’m just over 12 and a half. So it’s paid dividends for me.”

Naga broke in: “The most important thing is you feel good. It’s not so much the weight, it’s that you’re feeling better.”

Bez agreed: “I’m feeling a lot better, and I can fit in the clothes I once bought and couldn’t get in any more, which I’m quite happy about.”

Naga couldn’t help but pay Bez a compliment, as she said: “You’re looking very dapper, and all buttoned up as well, thanks to Charlie.”

It came as Charlie saved the Happy Mondays legend from a wardrobe “faux pas”, as he had to be “re-dressed” ahead of his interview.

“I get the end seat at the end [of the sofa] and kindly re-dressed by Charlie as well this morning,” Bez giggled as the hosts chatted.

“You saved me a faux pas.”

Clearly a little embarrassed, Charlie put in: “Oh, well, let’s not worry about that, let’s talk about what you’re up to!”

The ‘faux pas’ intrigued fans on Twitter, who flocked to social media to beg for photographic evidence.

“Given that Bez said that Charlie had to sort him out with a new outfit to avoid making a ‘faux pas’, anyone else curious as to what he originally turned up to #BBCBreakfast wearing?

“Maybe [Naga] can spill the beans or provide photographic evidence?” one wrote.

Another viewer agreed: “Please make Bez a regular guest or presenter!”

“Great to see Bez on the #BBCBreakfast settee. Such a kind soul!” a third wrote in.

“Never thought I’d hear Bez talking ’bout his weight loss on TV! #BBCBreakfast,” someone else chirped.

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
