BBC's Sally Nugent says 'don't let Carol sing' as she shuts down weather forecaster

BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent interrupted weatherwoman Carol Kirkwood to stop her from singing live on air ahead of an interview with hitmaker Ed Sheeran.

The freshly permanent TV presenter and her Strictly Come Dancing contestant and co-host Dan Walker caught up with the blonde bombshell on Tuesday morning for the latest weather update across the country.

But as the 44-year-old hinted at his star-studded line up of celebs on the show, he branded his 59-year-old colleague “Ed Sheeran’s warm up act.”

In between fits of giggles, Carol confessed she was quite the far of the red-haired singer as she prepared to give her rendition of his hit song Perfect on the show.

Before Dan moved on to the next segment of the show, he complimented Carol with an exciting new experience to add to her already impressive CV.

He opened with: “I’ve got a new one for you today, Carol. You can add to your long list of achievements because you are now Ed Sheeran’s warm-up act.”

Clearly excited, she replied: “Oh, I like that! In fact, you know my tune is one of Ed Sheeran’s [songs], Perfect?”

“Oh, well there you go. I hope he was listening in. Are you going to sing it for us, Carol?” he joked.

Luckily, the 50-year-old presenter interrupted her before she could make a fool of herself on air in front of the man himself.

Sally said: “No. don’t let Carol sing” before she had a chance to show off her vocal range.

The backhanded compliment was initially lost on the blonde bombshell, but Dan ratted out Sally’s cruel comment much to the meteorologist’s surprise.

The doting dad said: “Sally said, ‘Don’t let Carol sing’. That’s harsh isn’t it?”

As the weatherwoman’s jaw dropped to the floor in shock, she asked if the claim was true in a pointed manner, stating: “Sal!”
