Ben Shephard emotional as Corrie's Sally Lindsay sobs after mega Tipping Point win

Ben Shephard was overcome with emotion during Sunday’s throwback edition of Tipping Point as Sally Lindsay burst into tears after her mega win.

Appearing on the celebrity edition of the ITV gameshow, Sally, who famously played Shelley Unwin on Coronation Street, admitted she was feeling emotional after winning the £20,000 jackpot.

Sally’s start to the game was a rocky one, as she failed to land any counters in the coveted drop zone after a string of wrong answers.

However, in the nick of time, the star’s luck started to change and she managed to land the whopping £20,000 prize pot.

Her eyes welling up with tears, she explained the money would mean a lot to her charity of choice – Christmas Dinners.

The charity is an annual project for communities to provide a Christmas Day for care leavers aged between 18 and 25.

Established seven years ago in Manchester, the charity hosts special Christmas Day dinners for young people all over the country today, making a positive change.

She added: “It just gives them hope and it’s very close to my heart.”

The TV presenter was left in tears during a recent episode of Good Morning Britain.

Ben explained to viewers how he had “been in tears” as co-star Kate Garraway joked that it was not down to her for once.

The father of two was in fact left emotional by the success of Team GB at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

He confession came as Brits added to their medal tally on Tuesday morning, including a gold for Giles Scott in the men’s Finn sailing event.

Opening the show, Ben said: “I’ve already been in tears this morning.”

Kate replied: “And for once it wasn’t my fault. We were in the middle of the morning meeting.”
