Connie Talbot was only six years old when she appeared on the first ever series of Britain’s Got Talent, but these days she looks unrecognisable.
The singer auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent fourteen years ago as a tiny youngster, and she became an instant hit on the ITV talent show.
In 2007, the young star wowed judge Simon Cowell after singing a beautiful version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow in front of the cameras, and it’s fair to say she blew away the British public.
Simon had described Connie as “pure magic”, vowing to make her more than a whopping £1million that year.
Little Connie managed to reach the final of the show’s debut series as a joint favourite to win alongside opera sensation Paul Potts, but she lost out to Paul right at the end.
After shooting to fame on the reality show, Connie was signed to Simon’s record label, Sony BMG, but she was axed after recording just two songs as she was too young.
A spokesperson for the label said at the time: “The decision not to proceed was made with the best intentions for Connie, taking into consideration her age and that it would not be right to do so at this time.”
Now, at the age of 20, Connie looks remarkably different to her talent show days as she’s all grown up into a beautiful woman with model-like features.
The former BGT star is still an active singer but she’s got a flare for creativity too because she’s also begun pursuing a new career in songwriting.
In a sweet gesture to his talented daughter, Connie’s dad built her a recording studio from scratch in the garden of their family home.
She explained: “My dad built my studio brick by brick and I love it, I’m a lucky girl.”
The star regularly posts videos of herself singing a mixture of original tracks and covers to her huge following on YouTube, and her version of Tones and I’s single Dance Monkey racked up 1 million views in lockdown.
That’s not all though, because Connie has also become a fashion expert and social media influencer, and the glam singer can be seen in an array of dreamy locations which includes glam restaurants and gorgeous gardens.
Her impressive Instagram account shows Connie posing in a series of stunning outfits and she’s toured around the world and has visited Singapore, China and LA with her work.
Alongside one of her dreamy beach snaps, she wrote: “Feeling very grateful and blessed that doing a job I love takes me to see some beautiful parts of the world… pit stop at an empty beach.”
After leaving Simon Cowell’s label, Connie found success when she released her album Over the Rainbow later that year, which sold 250,000 copies and flew to number one in three countries.
Connie went on to release two Christmas albums and toured around Asia.
She dropped her third album in 2012, which was titled Beautiful World and was released under a Hong Kong label called Evosound – later hitting the number one spot in the Taiwan charts.
Her success continued in the years to follow by way of her special concert performances and a fourth album, even making an epic return to Britain’s Got Talent in 2019 where she wowed the judges with her star-quality.
Last year, Connie stunned the Apollo Theatre with her rendition of Sing Your Hallelujah during a Christmas performance, where she was a guest for Broadway star Shoshana Bean.
Connie called it the “highlight of my year”.
