Cher Lloyd who turns 28 on July 29 was catapulted to fame after she appeared on ITV’s The X Factor in 2010.
Just 16 but oozing with confidence, she certainly had the sass that judges Simon Cowell, Danni Minogue, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole were looking for.
Oozing confidence, the young star took to the stage delivering her own iconic version of Keri Hilson’s Turn My Swag On.
Not only was her performance captivating but she also showcased a multitude of talents – being able to rap as well as sing incredibly well.
After landing Cheryl as her mentor and being dubbed the favourite to win, things began to take a slightly different turn when Louis Walsh said she was “too big for her boots”.
Rumours began to circulate that she’d thrown tantrums behind closed doors.
With that said, she failed to win over the public and was booted off the show finishing up in fourth place.
The Daily Star explores… what happened next for Cher Lloyd?
Despite dividing public opinion, her popular track Swagger Jagger did rocket to number one in the UK charts.
Following her stint on the show, Cher became “angry” that she’d be cruelly dubbed the “most hated teen” and took a swipe at producers for how she’d been edited.
Speaking to fabulous magazine in 2012, she said: “I was a beast! Everyone hated me.
“I was young and foolish. Part of me was trying to show I was strong enough to do it, and then I think it all got too much for me.
“I was angry with the way I was being edited and because of that I turned into this horrible person, with a terrible attitude.”
Cher was constantly compared to her mentor Cheryl during her time the programme, with the pair having an uncanny resemblance.
Speaking on BRMB radio about her mentor a few years ago, she said: “I didn’t have her mobile number to begin with.
“I’ve got more chance of winning the lottery than catching up with her.”
Adding further fuel to the fire, she called out Cheryl requesting for her to sing live rather than using autotune like she did in the girlband.
It was at this point the Newcastle judge decided to speak out.
Cheryl tweeted: “Be Careful who you kick on your way up .. They kick you twice as hard on your way back down.. #unappreciationisugly.”
After the radio stint, Cher did end up issuing an apology to her former mentor.
During an appearance of Good Morning Britain which was known as Daybreak at the time, she told viewers: “I just want to say sorry to her if she found that offensive.
“But at the end of the day, she is the person who got me to where I am today.”
After enjoying mild success in the UK, she decided to set her sights on America and instantly gained the popularity she’d no doubt always craved.
Her song Want You Back debuted at number 10 in the US charts.
However, Cher’s second single didn’t seem to take off in the same way and only reached 72 in the Billboard charts.
But that didn’t matter because Cher’s life was about to change for the better.
Cher was introduced to Craig Monk who was a hairdresser by trade when he did her hair extensions.
The pair really hit it off and within just a few months of dating, Craig asked for the hitmaker’s hand in marriage.
In November 2013, Cher, then 20, and Craig tied the knot in a private ceremony with close friends and family.
The loved-up pair remained in LA together for four years but returned to the UK when the songstress fell pregnant.
In 2018, the starlet appeared on an episode of Loraine looking stunning in a floral dress, which showcased her blossoming baby bump.
When speaking to the presenter about her marriage, she explained: “We come from such different backgrounds really, he is lovely, I’m so lucky.
“We are definitely like a solid team and we just deal with anything that’s thrown at us.”
Announcing that they were expecting, she added: “We are so excited to start the most incredible journey.
“It is like a new start, this year we will be five years married. I don’t know where the time has gone!”
On the May 25, the former TV star and Craig welcomed their beautiful daughter Delilah-Rae into the world.
Taking to Instagram to share their joy, they shared an adorable picture of their newborn holding on to her dad’s hand.
She penned: “Our baby girl is here! We are so in love… Delliah-Rae 25.05.19.”
In an interview with The Guardian in 2020, Cher hinted that she still had some anger to resolve.
She told the publication: “I’m mother to a little girl.
“I’ve released two albums and I’ve got a top 10 hit in America. I’m not ‘the most hated teen’, I’m 26 years old! We’ve moved on!
“I had to do damage control. And still, at 26 years old, I have to do damage control. Years later, I do have some anger towards people for doing that to me.”
More recently, Cher updated Instagram fans that she has new music on the horizon unveiling her new hit Baddest and teaming up with electronic dance music producer Manbek.
