Cheryl returning to the stage just three weeks after Sarah Harding’s death

Cheryl is gearing up to return to the stage this weekend, just three weeks after the tragic passing of her Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding.

The singer is set to headline Birmingham Pride on Saturday, despite her close friend and bandmate’s tragic death just a matter of weeks prior.

And a source has explained to The Sun that the performance will still go ahead, saying: “Cheryl will still headline this weekend as planned, despite her heartbreak.

“She is devastated by Sarah’s passing but also knows the last thing Sarah would have wanted was for her to let down their fans.”

Her bandmate Sarah Harding was only 39 when she died earlier this month from breast cancer.

The news came hours after Cheryl headlined the Mighty Hoopla Festival in South London, when she was joined by fellow Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts for a surprise performance.

When Cheryl found out about the tragic news that Sarah had passed, she took to Instagram to write a sweet note: “Although we knew this day would arrive I am somehow still feeling at a loss for words that our stunning, unique, crazy, quirky, kind and soft hearted girl has departed.

“As I try to navigate my way through these painfully strange and horribly unfamiliar waves of disbelief and finality I am experiencing, I wanted to extend my condolences to all of our GA fans. We were like an extended family for so long and we know so many of you by name. I wanted to make sure you knew just how much your love and continued support meant to Sarah through her most vulnerable times.

“She was so grateful and you really lifted her spirits when she needed you most. I also realise so many will be deeply affected by the circumstances of Sarah’s passing… I am sending you all so much love.

“I love you Sarah… farewell.”

Sarah catapulted to fame in 2002 alongside Cheryl and the other Girls Aloud girls.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2020, sharing her news after being seen in a hospital.

In a devastating blow, Sarah confirmed the news of her diagnosis via a rare social media post in August 2020.
