Chris Evans was rushed to hospital over the weekend after suffering with kidney stones.
The Virgin Radio Breakfast Show host admitted that he first thought the pain he was in was due to ‘trapped wind’.
However, after calling non emergency number 111, he was rushed to A&E by his wife.
Chris, 54, said: “I thought I had trapped wind and general ‘man pain’ most of Saturday.
“I took paracetamol and waited for nature to take its course… that didn’t happen.”
He added to The Sun: “After an ultrasound scan and CT scan, it was clear I had a kidney stone on the move.

“I was subsequently admitted to a ward where I was looked after until I came back home on Monday evening.
“I still have the stone, and if it doesn’t come out soon I will need to go back in and have it removed.”
Chris went on to raise the NHS for their professionalism and warmth during his stay in hospital.

The star joked he was on so many painkillers when he was admitted to hospital that he “was pretty much out of it for the first few hours”.
Kindly stones are most common in people aged 30 – 60 and some reports claim that some are even more painful than childbirth.
On average, a stone will take up to a month to pass through the system.

As a result of his illness Chris has taken a short break from his presenting job on Virgin Radio.
The channel recently confirmed that they have poached Graham Norton.
Much like with Chris, Graham was a regular on BBC Radio.
Talking about his new job, Graham said: “Here’s my confession – at Radio 2 I was never allowed to touch a button.
“I was just gloves on, and I’d sit there and talk. So everything happened around me.”
He added: “But here, I’m pushing some buttons and it’s pathetic how excited that makes me.
“It’s like that thing when you’ve learned to drive, you’ve passed your test and then you’re on the motorway and you’re like ‘this isn’t illegal…but it should be!’”
