Corrie star Mark Frost mastered a Manchester accent for the soap thanks to Oasis.
The Midlands-born actor has revealed he mimics Liam and Noel Gallagher to play Ray Crosby.
He said: “My mate Gem Archer was in Oasis in the 90s, so I spent quite a bit of time in Manchester. I had some great adventures. I got to meet Liam a few times and had a few nights out with him.
“There is an attitude in Manchester that is unique.
“There’s a humour and a swagger and a way of speaking. I wanted to get a bit of that late 90s bravado in.
“I wanted to pay a little nod to Liam. Everybody relates to Oasis in that period. I wanted it to have a hint of that heritage.”
Mark, who joined Corrie in 2019, reckons the challenge of the accent helps him play the role.
He went on: “An accent can be quite freeing. The minute you adopt an accent, you are someone other than yourself. It’s a way in.”
Last year, it was revealed that the soap’s villain auditioned for a different role in the show.

He previously went for the part of Pat Phelan’s sidekick, Vinny Ashford, who was played by former Emmerdale star Ian Kelsey.
But he wasn’t given the role and fortunately came back as the businessman Ray Crosby.
“I auditioned for one other role before, the sidekick of Pat Phelan played by Ian Kelsey,” Mark said in September.
Describing his character, he says the bistro owner ‘slid into street in serpent-like way’.
Debbie Webster confessed she murdered Ray Crosby last month, pleading guilty to killing him in self-defence – but it was all part of a big plot.
After Abi confronted Ray with evidence of his crimes, he spiked her drink and she collapsed in an alleyway.
Debbie revealed she killed him and disposed of his body, but she was lying and instead was helping him escape.
