Doctor Who legend Colin Baker is set for a stint on Emmerdale.
The veteran actor has landed a role as newcomer Michael on the hit ITV show that is filmed in Leeds, West Yorks.
In scenes that are set to air later this month, we’ll see him arrive in the village as a man on a mission to find love.
Colin’s character will appear in scenes showing him going on a date with Diane Sugden, played by Elizabeth Estensen.
Colin said: “I am so old that I remember watching Emmerdale Farm long before it became just Emmerdale – when my friend and colleague from Doctor Who days Frazer Hines was a youthful Joe Sugden and the wonderful Arthur Pentelow was in the cast.”
He went on to add: “So to get a call to join the cast, albeit briefly, as a possible love interest for Elizabeth Estenson, an actress I had long admired, certainly appealed to me.
“A bonus was the fact that also in my scenes was Rodney Blackstock, played by my old friend Patrick Mower.”
Colin, who played the Doctor in the mid-80s, is the latest in a long list of big names to have a cameo on Emmerdale.
Celebrities such as Katherine Jenkins, Marti Pellow and Ian Botham have all appeared on the show in the past.
It’s all set to be a dramatic few weeks on the ITV soap, as in upcoming episodes there will be a terrifying gun siege.
Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) and Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) will be caught up in it when Russ (Rob Jarvis) goes on a rampage.
He’s been demanding money from Wendy, blackmailing her to try and get the inheritance that he believes he is entitled to.
But in episodes this week, Wendy discovers he’s actually far more dangerous than she first knew.
He tells her he’s on the run because he shot a policemen during an armed robbery.
Soon, she convinces Vic to hand over the cash to Russ after his menacing confession.
But she soon changes her mind and goes to the Hide to tell her not to give him any money.
Wendy comes clean about the blackmail and Russ turns up, demanding the money.
Victoria tries to call the police but, before she can, he pulls a gun out of his coat.
He takes the ladies’ phones and locks the door, leaving Vic and Wendy terrified.
It’s not long until armed police turn up and viewers hear a gun shot – but who will have been hit?
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm, with an extra episode 8pm on Thursdays, on ITV
