EastEnders' Kara Tointon transforms into Kate Middleton for new West End role

EastEnders star Kara Tointon is playing Kate Middleton in a new West End stage show.

The 38-year-old actress looks uncannily like HRH The Duchess of Cambridge in the new comedy spoof production called The Windsors: Endgame.

Kara played East End favourite Dawn Swan in the long-running BBC soap, but she has now swapped Albert Square for the West End.

The Windsors: Endgame was originally on Channel 4 as part of a comedy series but has now transferred to the stage.

It is a satirical spoof that follows the life of the Royal family.

In photos released by the West End production of the show, Kara can be seen dressed like Kate in her typical trademark style, with a dark green wax jacket.

Kara is starring alongside actor Ciaran Owens, who will be playing her husband Prince William in the show.

Meanwhile, comedy legend Harry Enfield will be taking on the role of HRH Prince Charles in the West End production.

Actress Crystal Condie will play the Duchess of Sussex in the show and Doctor Who and Toast of London star Tracey-Ann Oberman will play Prince Charles’ wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

The cast also includes Eliza Butterworth, Sophie-Louise Dunn, Matthew Cottle, and Tom Durant-Pritchard.

The Windsors: Endgame can be seen at London’s Prince of Wales Theatre.

The West End production will rely heavily on the lives of the Royal family

Kara, who left the iconic soap in 2019, has not ruled out a return to EastEnders.

However, she admitted she is enjoying the thrill of performing to a live audience.

Kara went on to win BBC dancing competition Strictly Come Dancing in 2010 after leaving the Square.

She is now happily engaged to fiancé Marius Jensen, and they share two sons, Helly and Frey.

It comes as Kara previously spoke out about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle debate and their departure from the royal life.

The actress told OK! Magazine: “My only observation and my only thought is, good luck to them all.

“I wish them all the best of luck.”

One aspect of the new show is that they have decided not to include the Queen in the production.

Creator Bert Tyler-Moore spoke about the decision and told the BBC: “I think they thought it best to steer clear of the Queen and George and I agreed.

“She’s a hugely respected figure, even among people in Britain who aren’t at all monarchist. We were very happy to let her be. As the play shows, there are plenty of other people to take the mickey out of. Some characters are more fantastical than others.”

He added: “I’ve tried to build in references to recent events, like when Harry announced he’s to publish his memoirs next year. But things change so often that not everything can stay in.”
