Emmerdale’s Debbie Dingle returned to the village this evening, but one remark she made left viewers scratching their heads.
Debbie (Charley Webb) was furious with her mum Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) when she learned Sarah (Katie Hill) had run away with ex-convict Danny (Louis Healy), disappearing completely.
Desperate to find Sarah, Debbie headed to the Woolpack to see whether any of the locals had information on Sarah’s whereabouts.
Chatting with Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) behind the bar, she suddenly noticed Nate Robinson sitting in the pub, listening to her outburst.
In 2019, it emerged Nate was Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) biological son, meaning he is actually Debbie’s half brother.
During Monday’s episode, Nate tried to offer to help to find Sarah, but Debbie immediately launched into a fiery rebuttal.
She insisted he wasn’t part of her family and accused him of ruining her dad Cain’s marriage to Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), referring to their sordid affair.
However, watching from home, viewers were confused about how Debbie had recognised Nate, as she had spent the past year in Scotland.
One Twitter user said: “How did Debbie recognise Nate have they ever met ?”
“What a lovely introduction to Debbie for Nate lol. ,” wrote a second.
And a third chimed: “Debbie giving big brother Nate the evils…”
Thankfully, hours later, Debbie and Charity managed to track down Sarah, finding her in a state of undress in a chilly Yorkshire barn.
Dragging her home, Debbie was horrified to realise her daughter was on drugs, as she shouted at her about running off.
However, Sarah burst into tears, and confessed she’d struggled with her mum’s absence over the past year, fearing she would return to Scotland.
Debbie changed her tune and reassured her daughter she was going nowhere, promising to stay by her side.
Can Debbie stick to her word and repair her relationship with Sarah?
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra helping on Thursdays at 8pm.
