Things look like they’ll be hotting up in Emmerdale as the residents head out for a survival challenge with serial killer Meena Jutla at the helm.
As evil Meena meddles with her sister Manpreet Sharma’s harness in an attempt to bring death and destruction to the village, nobody is safe.
However, new romance is blossoming between Manpreet and Charles Anderson after she previously left him at the altar.
The pair definitely have a history together, and with Meena intent on getting them back together, could it all work out in their favour?
Manpreet star Rebecca Sarker has opened up to Daily Star and other publications about the “sizzling” chemistry she has with co-star Kevin Mathurin as she teased a potential rekindling of their former flame.
Speaking about their potential romance after breaking up with husband Rishi, Rebecca teased: “Manpreet says that she’s fallen out of love with Rishi – that she’s not in love with him. She still loves him but it’s not a romantic love.
“But she’s adamant that it’s nothing to do with Charles. The question is, though – is she being truthful to herself?
“I don’t think that even Manpreet really knows the answer to that just yet, but maybe the survival challenge’s events will make things a bit clearer for her.”
As for Charles’ relationship with Andrea, Kevin explained Charles thinks it’s going “really well”.
“He’s just told her that he loves her and Andrea has said it back, so their relationship has moved to the next level. There was even talk of moving in together,” he explained.
“But Andrea has her own issues to address with Kim Tate at the moment, there’s that storyline going on over Millie.
“So I think that’s messing up the flow of the situation at the moment. It’s whether things are being sped up because they really want that to happen – but is it really the right time to be moving the relationship on right now?
“We’re in a bit of a limbo, but as far as Charles is concerned it’s good, healthy.”
And does Charles still have feelings for Manpreet?
Kevin said: “There have always been feelings for Manpreet, because they’ve got history.
“I think whenever you’re in a relationship and you’re not the one who broke it off – or, in Manpreet’s case, left Charles in the aisle – you haven’t got closure.
“It’s very rare you get closure on your feelings for that other person, so even though exteriorly he’s very tough and knows that’s the past and he’s moved on… he can’t help but see there’s a rapport and something very natural in the chemistry between Manpreet and Charles.”
Could the survival challenge – in which it has been promised that at least one character will lose their lives – bring them closer together?
Rebecca explained: “I think nothing brings home the mortality, or the fragility of life than a brush with the Grim Reaper, a near miss.
“There’s always been and still is a real chemistry between Charles and Manpreet. Kevin and I were doing a scene the other day, and apparently we sizzled!” she quipped.
Kevin joked: “It was a hot day. I had layers on.”
With the cast and crew filming outside of their usual Yorkshire set, they were practically living in each other’s pockets while staying at hotels to film the intense rapids scenes over at the Tees Barrage.
Kevin told Daily Star that he and Rebecca would use the hotel gym in the evening in order to relax together.
He explained: “Rebecca and I would work out at the hotel in the evenings, because we both like to work out and use the gym.
“So if the hotel had a decent gym we’d de-stress doing that and then just relax in our rooms.
“But when we were on set everyone just used to hang out and will each other on – because it was tough, so tough! I was proud of everybody.”
Rebecca added: “It really was great, a collaborative experience. The team was working away from home, so that contributed to the feeling of shared experience – not only were we filming together but practically living together as well.
“We’d have breakfast and lunch together, then do all the work, get home and probably meet up in the gym that evening.
“It was quite intense, but I think that created a sense of camaraderie and a bond that can’t help but add a certain something to the performances.”

Turning back to the storyline, Rebecca added: “No matter how much they try and fight against it – assuming Manpreet and Charles make it out alive, will this intense experience bring them together, or will it rock them so much that it drives a wedge in their relationship?
“Might it be that what happens in the rapids or what’s said in the rapids stays in the rapids?”
Meanwhile, there is further tension in Charles’ relationship with Andrea, as Meena’s meddling takes a turn for the worst.
“All of a sudden Andrea’s very snappy with Charles, and he doesn’t know where it’s coming from,” Kevin said.
“There’s suddenly pressure and when you get to the crux of where it’s coming from, it’s jealousy over whether Charles still has feelings for Manpreet.
“There’s a really uncomfortable moment where Andrea asks Charles if he still has feelings for Manpreet – and you’ll have to watch to find out what he says.”
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm
