Friends' Matthew Perry splits from fiancée Molly Hurwitz months after proposing

Friends star Matthew Perry appears to be newly single, his engagement with fiancée Molly Hurwitz coming to an unexpected end six months after popping the question.

The actor, 51, announced he had split from the talent manager and producer, 29, on Tuesday, simply explaining certain relationships “don’t work out”.

Matthew and Molly got engaged last November after two years of dating, with the screen star describing his then-fiancée as the “greatest woman”.

Announcing their separation, Matthew told People: “Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them.

“I wish Molly the best.”

The Chandler Bing star confirmed their engagement last year, telling People: “I decided to get engaged.

“Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time.”

Matthew has dated some major names in Hollywood in the past – in the 90s, he was briefly linked to Baywatch star Yasmine Bleeth.

Between 1995 and 1996 he dated Pretty Woman icon Julia Roberts, even convincing the starlet to appear alongside him on an episode of Friends.

His longest relationship was with Mean Girls star Lizzy Caplan, with the pair splitting in 2012 after six years of dating.

The news of Matthew’s cancelled engagement comes after Matthew appeared in the highly-anticipated Friends: The Reunion, reuniting with his co-stars from the cult 90s sitcom.

Appearing alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer in the special, the cast reflected on the legacy of the show.

During the reunion, Matthew opened up about the pressure he felt to entertain on the show, recalling reading out his lines in the studio.

“At least to me, I felt like I was going to die if they didn’t laugh,” he said.

“It’s not healthy for sure but I would sometimes say a line and they wouldn’t laugh and I would sweat and just go into convulsions if I didn’t get the laugh I was supposed to get. I would freak out.”

His co-star Lisa, who played Phoebe Buffay, was surprised by the revelation, remarking: “You didn’t tell us that. I don’t remember you ever saying that.”

“Oh yeah, I felt like that every single night,” Matthew candidly replied.
