Geordie Shore's Abbie Holborn talks trolling and bullying hell from reality fame

Geordie Shore’s Abbie Holborn has candidly talked about her struggles with trolls as a result of her reality fame, with negative comments and DMs flying in on social media often.

To support against online bullying, Abbie joined Cybersmile and St Moriz for their Be Kind Online campaign in a bid to encourage people to be mindful of their actions and raise awareness of cyberbullying.

Speaking to Daily Star Online, Abbie said: “The fact that St Moriz can do such an amazing campaign especially with their big following of young people is great.

“It’s dear to my heart, particularly from being on Geordie Shore, you deal with so much trolling and negative comments. It’s up and down, but it’s mostly on social media.”

The beauty explained that dealing with trolls is a challenge, but added that if she’s in a good mindset, it doesn’t bother her – but if she’s already feeling low, things quickly go downhill.

Despite her challenges with trolling, Abbie said that over the past year she’s really learned to be happy in herself and appreciate what she has got and what she has achieved.

The beauty believed that teaming up with the Cybersmile Foundation, a non-profit organisation to tackle bullying and abuse online, was a vital topic – and so did many other celebs who joined their supporting panel.

St Moriz also chose to join the brand in a bid to support its mission to spread positivity online and offer a community of support.

The company said: “We recognise that everybody is beautiful and we pride ourselves on offering a selection of tans for people of all skin tones, with shades from light to ultra-dark, highlighted with the slogan ‘A Tan For Every Tone.’

“We are delighted to be partnering with Cybersmile to run this Anti-Cyberbullying campaign.”

Abbie agreed that the campaign needed to spread positivity and support, but added that education is also a priority.

She said: “I think the most important thing is that with social media a lot of people need to be educated.

“People think they’re just having an opinion and they don’t realise that what they’re saying is hurtful. They just get so invested when they watch us on TV and I think sometimes they need to remember that it is a TV show and people have feelings.

“I’ve had it where trolls have commented on a situation that they don’t like but they have felt the need to DM me and say it.”

The hope of the campaign is to spread positivity and show people the true realities of online trolls.
