GMB fans spot giant Ben Shephard gaffe as he gets Kate and William's names wrong

Ben Shephard paid tribute to Prince William’s tenth wedding anniversary with his wife Kate Middleton on Friday’s Good Morning Britain, with the Royal couple releasing a heartwarming video from their family.

However, a number of viewers spotting a giant mistake in Ben’s introduction, as he referred to the pair by the wrong title.

Ben called Kate and William the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, when their actual title is the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

William’s brother, Prince Harry, and his wife Meghan Markle are known as Duke and Duchess of Sussex, receiving the title when they married in 2018.

Ben said: “It was the tenth anniversary yesterday of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Very lovely celebration for their tenth anniversary.

“They’ve released a little trip of a little family trip to the beach.

“Which is quite wonderful… it’s a really lovely, wonderful clip. It’s like a perfect advert for an outdoor brand of some sort.”

Watching the slip-up play out, viewers took to Twitter to exclaim over the mishap, tagging Ben and pointing out the difference between the two titles.

“#GMB Can you let @benshephard know when talking about the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge anniversary, he actually said Sussex!!!” wrote one.

A second weighed in: “#gmb That was the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, not Sussex @benshephard.”

“That’s the Cambridge’s Ben, not the Sussex’s,” added a third, while a fourth penned: “@GMB Ben Sheppard you made a mistake when talking about the video of the royals. You said it’s 10 years since the Sussex’s got married! I think you meant Cambridge’s.”

And, a fifth viewer reacted: “@GMB Ben Shepherd incorrectly stated it was the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s anniversary!”

As a tribute to their anniversary, Kate and William shared a 39-second video on their official Twitter account, depicting a day spent with their family.

Filmed at their Norfolk residence, Anmer Hall, and on sand dunes, the Royal couple could be seen toasting marshmallows and running on the beach with their children – George, seven, Charlotte, five, and Louis, three.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
