GMB viewers suspicious as they spot ITV winner is 'underwhelmed' after huge £1m win

Good Morning Britain viewers are convinced that the winner of the £1m competition could be “fake”.

The competition which has seen hundreds of thousands viewers enter for a chance to win £1million thanks to the daytime show has closed and the winner was drawn.

On Monday morning, Andi Peters gave the lucky winner a call to ask them whether they wanted to take the £1m or if they wanted £10,000 per month to total £1.2million.

The winner requested the lump sum of cash after telling the presenter that they “couldn’t believe it” – but one things viewers couldn’t believe was the win.

As the winner has opted to stay anonymous, and appeared underwhelmed – with even Susanna Reid and Martin Lewis referencing their lack of excitement – viewers were left adamant that it’s “fake”.

Taking to Twitter, one user wrote: “That winner sounds fake, fake as funk.”

Another simply wrote: “Million pound winner,” and shared a gif of Donald Trump calling “fake news”.

A third person wrote: “What a scam, how do we know this is true? Should have to be public when you win especially a million, could be one of their relatives!”

Meanwhile another said: “I thought the one million ‘winner’ might remain ‘anonymous’…”

Among tweets erupting to question the winner, Martin rationalised as he said we’re in an “epidemic of scams” at the moment, and it’s likely they thought they were being scammed.

He stated he couldn’t blame the individual for being reluctant regarding the win after many scams have been floating around recently.

However Susanna chirped that the person had entered the competition to win £1million, so they couldn’t be too surprised.

When the call took place the presenter told the winner he was calling as part of the ITV competition but she said she’d entered to win £1m but he “couldn’t be calling about that”.

As Andi told her she won, she said: “Really? I can’t believe that. My heart is like beating crazily.”

The competition has been going on for weeks with more viewers entering each day, but it closed last week and one lucky winner was picked at random.
