Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been nominated for the People’s Choice Awards Pop Special category for their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Earlier this year, the royal couple sat down with the American TV host for a lengthy two-hour tell-all CBS interview.
The Sussexes, who fled Frogmore Cottage in the UK for California, made several allegations against the Royal Family during their exclusive chat with Oprah.
During the interview, Harry and Meghan alleged that the Firm made racist comments towards their son Archie and said one member of the family expressed “concerns” over the colour of his skin.
The Sussexes also claimed Archie had been denied his “birthright” of being a Prince.
Not only this, but Meghan also said she had suicidal thoughts when pregnant with her first child due to the lack of help available as Royal family member.
The documentary which aired on ITV on March 8, became the main topic of conversation amongst Brits and those over seas and caused several heated debates.
Meghan and Harry join a star-studded list of nominees for the People’s Choice Awards pop-culture sub-award.
Other factual entertainment shows that have been nominated are Billie Eilish’s documentary on James Bond theme song.
Demi Lovato’s four part series which documents her near-death drug overdose and singing-career comeback is also nominated for the gong.
The other nominees include Friends: The Reunion, Justin Bieber: Our World, P!nk: All I Know So Far, Savage X Fenty Show Vol 3 and Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart and Snoop Dogg.
2021’s People Choice award will be the 47th instalment of the fan-voted entertainment honours event.
The show will take place less than 100 miles away from the Sussexes’ California home at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.
The People’s Choice Awards will be aired live on the US network NBC on December 7.
Actors Daniel Craig and Tom Hardy have both been nominated for the Movie of 2021 award for the 25th Bond movie No Time To Die and Marvel film Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
In 2018, former Suits actress Meghan was nominated for her first People’s Choice Award.
