Harry Styles 'lucky' as fans allow him to 'be free' as he bags first Grammy

Harry Styles added Grammy Award-winning recording artist to his already impressive CV last night as joined the legendary Grammy club.

The singer who opened the star-studded event in Los Angeles was among nominees such as Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift and fellow Brit Dua Lupa as he picked up the famous golden award.

Upon hearing the news that his hit single Watermelon Sugar had been recognised as the Best Pop Solo Performance, Mr Styles removed his face covering to reveal his beaming smile as he hugged his best friend and manager, Jeff Azoff, before making his way to the stage.

Cheshire born Styles, 27, thanked “everyone” who made the record with him, before adding that Watermelon Sugar was the first track he penned following the release of his debut solo album.

Acknowledging his fellow nominees, the curly-haired heartthrob said: “I feel very grateful to be here, all these songs are f***ing massive, so thank you so much.

“I feel very honoured to be among you all, so thank you.”

Shortly after collecting his award, the Don’t Worry Darling actor took to the virtual press room, speaking to reporters where he thanked fans for allowing him to be free.

“I feel incredibly lucky to get to work in music and make music as my job every day and this is an incredibly sweet icing on the cake of what I get to do every day, so thank you so much.

“And I want to thank my fans for giving me an environment to be free to make the music that I want to make and supporting me along the way over the last 10 years.”

Harry added: “And everyone who made this record with me and my label and my managers and everyone who supports me and everything, all of it, thank you so much.

As well as being nominated for and eventually winning Best Pop Solo Performance, Harry was also up for Best Pop Vocal for his second studio album, Fine Line, as well as Best Music Video for the hit single, Adore You.

Opening the show, Watermelon Sugar, Harry looked every inch the superstar as he donned a pair of skintight leather trousers, leaving little to the imagination.

He paired his leather pants with an open leather jacket, flaunting his impressive ripped torso and several tattoos, leaving fans swooning over his gym-honed physique.

Harry is known for his androgynous fashion sense and continuing to break down the gender barriers.

During his astronomical career as a member of One Direction which kicked off in 2010, the group were never nominated for a Grammy, making Harry the first member to win an award.
