Inside lives of Ringo Starr's famous kids from Oasis fame to police run-ins

The former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr is one of the most famous musicians in the world thanks to his time with the band in the 60s.

He has since gone on to release 20 solo albums and continues to work within the industry even after turning 80 last year.

His real name is Richard Starkey – the stage name Ringo Starr was adopted for his musical career, basing it off the rings he wore at the time and the country and western twang it gave him.

But besides his professional career, he has also maintained an over 40-year long relationship with wife Barbara Bach and has three children of his own who have all carved out their own paths.

Ringo’s first son Zak was born in 1965 and quickly took an interest in drumming despite his father’s wishes.

While Ringo discouraged Zak from becoming a part of the music industry, godfather Keith Moon bought him a drum set at the age of eight.

After Ringo and Zak’s mother Maureen separated, Zak became more serious about a drumming career, leading him to fill in for Keith Moon’s role in The Who through the 90s.

Zak continues to work as a musician and has collaborated with names like Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and even performed as the drummer for Oasis for short while.

Ringo’s first grandchild came from Zak as he had a daughter named Tatia that now performs as a musician herself.

Jason Starkey

All three of Ringo’s children come from his first wife Maureen Cox, who he married in 1965.

Two years after having Zak, the pair gave birth to Jason who has a considerably more distant relationship with his father.

Jason ran into a few problems with the law while growing up and got fined for attempting to steal a car stereo at the age of 20.

After appearing in court for drug charges a couple of years later, Jason managed to get beyond his past and move forward as a professional drummer.

He has a bigger issue with his heritage, having once said “being Ringo Starr’s son is the biggest drag of my life”.

Lee Starkey

Lee Starkey was the third and final child between Ringo and Maureen, having been born in 1970.

She became a recognisable face in 1989 when she appeared in an Oldsmobile advert with her father.

She co-founded a Los Angeles boutique called Planet Alice for 60s-inspired fashion.

Following the closure of the business, she worked as a makeup artist and fashion designer.

Lee had a battle with cancer after being diagnosed with a brain tumour and after a number of surgeries and radiation therapy, the disease returned in 2001.

She has since managed to recover and appears to have a good relationship with her brothers, having been seen attending concerts they play.
