The Chase star Anne Hegerty is known for her exceptional brain power and quizzing might.
She has been a regular on ITV’s The Chase, which has become a staple of British daytime TV, presented by Bradley Walsh.
Hegerty, nicknamed ‘The Governess’, is known as one of the show’s cool characters and most ruthless quizzers.
She also appeared on series 18 of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! alongside the likes EastEnders actor Roxy Simons, Emily Atack and eventual winner Harry Redknapp.

Due to her quizzing achievements and TV appearances, Hegerty now sits on a sizeable fortune. The Governess is said to be worth around £2.8 million and now resides near Watford.
Her regular earnings stem from her TV appearances and spin-off shows such as The Chase Australia and Beat the Chasers. The 63-year-old also presents Britain’s Brightest Family.
She is estimated to have earned around £95,000 for her time on I’m a Celebrity.
But life before she moved on screen was very different.
She recently revealed that before TV fame, she struggled with bill and rent payments.
“I just simply couldn’t keep it going and the result was I wasn’t paying my bills, but I was trying not to go on benefits on the grounds that I just thought that was sort of giving up. I wasn’t giving up,” she told Stuff.
Who is Anne Hegerty?
Hegerty was born in Westminster in 1958.
She worked as a journalist for the South Wales Argus before moving to Manchester and ghost wrote two stories under the name of author-illustrator Richard Scarry. She then became a proof reader.
The quiz queen has Asperger Syndrome, which was not diagnosed until her early forties, in 2003. She spoke about how she copes with it on I’m a Celebrity, as well as the What Makes Us Human podcast with Jeremey Vine.
“My mother couldn’t understand anything about me, why I wasn’t more sociable and popular and good with people.
“She was very much a people person, she was a social worker. I got bullied a fair bit at school because I was just a very obvious target.”
Aside from appearing on The Chase, Hegerty has also featured on Fifteen to One, Mastermind, Brain of Britain, Are You an Egghead? and Today’s the Day.
