Jedward's Edward emotional after surviving 'life threatening' emergency surgery

Edward Grimes, who is best known for being one half of Jedward, has been discharged from the hospital after undergoing emergency surgery to get his appendix removed.

The singer previously shared that it was a “life-threatening and scary situation” but showed his gratitude to emergency services for the operation that got him back on his feet.

Edward’s latest update was posted to Instagram, stating he had “never been this vulnerable” but that he was also sad to be leaving the ward he was on.

He posted a selfie of himself with the caption: “The most insane hospital trip of my life…

“Had such an eventful time like it’s gonna be a chapter in a book someday or just in my thoughts.

“I’ve experienced so much emotions in the last 48hrs.”

In a follow-up post, he continued: “The pain and laughs all mixed into hilarious chats and bonds with wonderful memories that should be tragic but made me grow.

“I feel like I’ve been on a wild dream and I’m happy u all enjoyed the trip too but u can only share so much on Instagram.”

Edward documented having needles inserted into his legs before he was discharged, later sharing an image of an IV drip in his arm stating “my veins are closed for business now”.

Edward then shared a video of himself walking through the corridors as he left the hospital to get home.

Urging anyone that experiences abdominal pain to get it checked out before it’s too late, Edward previously posted: “Don’t brush off key signs from your body as health is everything.”

Edward also complained that the incident had happened on the worst day of the year for him – the day of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Jedward had previously appeared in the international song contest two years in a row from 2011 to 2012 where they finished in eighth and nineteenth place.

Fans flooded the replies to wish him well, with one person saying: “Sorry you’re missing your Eurovision night, It’s horrible missing out on things because you’re not well, but your health is more important and you’ll be better before you know it!”

Good luck to Edward on his recovery.
