Jeremy Kyle's life after show axed – dropped from TV, baby and comeback hint

Jeremy Kyle, 55, is a journalist, broadcaster and writer but the star is definitely best known for hosting the tabloid talk show The Jeremy Kyle Show.

Jeremy hosted the show for 14 years before its unexpected cancellation.

Since then, the father-of-five has been focusing on his personal life after becoming a father again, and a grandfather, in the space of two years.

In 2019 former guest 63-year-old Steve Dymond was found dead at an address in Portsmouth after what was suspected to be suicide.

Mr Dymond had appeared as a guest on The Jeremy Kyle Show only a week prior, and took part in the show’s polygraph test.

The lie detector suggested that Mr Dymond was not telling the truth and had been unfaithful to his partner despite his initial denial.

Jeremy made a number of disparaging comments towards Mr Dymond including calling him a “serial liar.”

A coroner’s ruling published in November 2020 states that “Acts or omissions” by Kyle “May have caused or contributed to” Mr Dymond’s unexpected death.

The show was suspended a week later including all broadcasts on ITV, ITV2 and the ITV Hub.

ITV released a statement saying, “Everyone at ITV and The Jeremy Kyle Show is shocked and saddened at the news of the death of a participant in the show.”

Two days after releasing the statement, ITV’s chief executive Carolyn McCall announced the programme was cancelled.

Carolyn said, “Given the gravity of recent events we have decided to end production of The Jeremy Kyle Show . The show has had a loyal audience and has been made by a dedicated production team for 14 years, but now is the right time for the show to end.”

After the cancellation, Jeremy refused to appear before MPs investigation aspects of reality television.

Since the cancellation of his career-boosting show, Jeremy has remained under the radar in broadcast TV.

Although Jeremy has not commented on the show’s cancellation, The Sun reported that Jeremy feared ITV bosses were looking for an excuse to axe the show.

Ex-staff at The Jeremy Kyle Show have also accused ITV of not supporting them since the show was cancelled.

Many reported they felt they had been “hung out to dry” by the show’s bosses and were offered no support despite many finding the death of Mr Dymond traumatic.

The outspoken host tried to develop a new show for ITV just three months after The Jeremy Kyle Show was cancelled.

ITV’s director Kevin Lygo was happy to work with Jeremy and encouraged people not to blame the host for the incident.

Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival Mr Lygo said, “We are piloting something with him and we will just have to have a look because he is a consummate broadcaster and it would be absolutely wrong to apportion blame of the show against the presenter of it.

“We don’t hold him in any bad way. We will look to find another show with him but I think it is unlikely it will go in the same slot.”

Despite Mr Lygo’s reassurances, there has not been any news about the pilot since.

Another of Jeremy’s shows – The Kyle Files – was also set to return in 2020, but didn’t come back on the air.

Despite his plummeting career, Jeremy has been focused on fatherhood.

After welcoming his first grandchild in 2018, he went onto have another child of his own in February 2020.

Just before the UK went into its first lockdown, Jeremy Kyle had a baby boy with his fiancé, Vicky Burton.

Jeremy has four children in total: two children from his first marriage to Kirsty Rowley, and two more from his marriage with Carla Germaine

His fiancé, Vicky, is the former nanny of his children.

Jeremy is currently represented by Claire Powell from The Can Group. The agency also represents Peter Andre, Christine McGuinness and Amy Childs.

In a statement Ms Powell wrote, “After a year spent battling the unimaginable consequences of a devastating tragedy, Jeremy Kyle will be back soon to have his say.”

However, focusing on the positives, his profile reminds us that Jeremy is a “Sony Award-winning radio host who changed the game at BRMB, Virgin Radio, Capital FM, talkSPORT and talkRADIO.”

She added, “He’s also proved a hit in prime time, fronting five successful series of his investigative current affairs brand, The Kyle Files..
