Jeremy Vine was left feeling uneasy after a group of anti-vaxxers turned up at his home and served his wife a ‘writ’ of the BBC’s support of the Covid vaccine.
There was a large group of people who showed up at his front door in London on Sunday morning, who labelled themselves as the ‘resistance’.
The group of individuals wanted to issue the “notice of liability” and planned to “take the street” if Jeremy’s wife Rachel Schofield didn’t accept the document.
Jeremy, 56, took to Twitter to explain what happened and said: “I’m not at home at the moment, so these guys just served an “anti-vaxx writ” on my wife instead” as he shared the video of the group.
He continued: “They are angry at the BBC’s #CovidVaccine reporting. They were polite, for which I’m grateful, but coming to my home on a Sunday? And I’m a little unnerved by the heavy breathing too.”
A second video was also posted showing a big group of people gathering on the street near his house.
A voice can be heard in the background threatening to “take the whole street” if Jeremy didn’t come to the door.
Jeremy also tweeted: “I have only just seen this: if my wife hadn’t accepted the “anti-vaxx writ” on my behalf, this group waiting near my house would then have “taken the whole street.”
“The original video shows street name and house number really clearly. Always happy to engage but not like this.”
In the first video, a man can be seen explaining that their mission was to issue the writ and how it went well.
The man said: “That went better than expected so we don’t need to make a huge point.”
The person filming the scene behind the camera then said: “Fantastic, job done, guys, job done.”
In another video one of the individuals there, also could be heard saying they were going to knock on the TV presenter’s door to “hand over the notice”.
A group member said: “If he just takes the notice, then we’re going to leave.
“It’s all going to go off without incident, absolutely perfect.”
The person then added: “If he doesn’t open the door what we’re going to do is we’re going to bring all the boards down, we’ve got all our yellow boards and were going to take the whole street with yellow boards and we’re going to wait for the police to arrive and when the police arrive we’re going to get the police to assist us to deliver the notice of liability.”
