Justin Bieber’s army of fans have let rip at superstar rapper Lil Nas X after he playfully edited their promo snaps to promote his own single Call Me By Your Name.
The star, who has been met with critical acclaim for his new single and video, tweeted four shots to his 5.9million followers in which he superimposed his own face over Justin’s.
Lil Nas also doctored the writing to make the posts read as a manual for how to get his track to number one.
While the post was nothing more than light-hearted fun, Justin’s sensitive army of Beliebers wasted no time in letting rip.
Rounding in on the Old Town Road hitmaker, one fumed: “You literally disrespected Justin Bieber without even thinking that it might hurt him and his fans so what now.”
Another vented: “You don’t deserve number one, stop using Justin.”
A third chimed in: “This nitwit legit used Justin Yummy’s work to promote his song… Desperation won’t take you far.”
Trying to calm the mob down, Lil Nas later clarified: “I love Justin, this ain’t hate. It’s promo baby.”
However, sadly, it seemed to do little to calm the Twitter storm.
The rapper later spoke out, admitting that the backlash, coupled with criticism from conservative Christians over his sexually provocative music video, was getting to him.
He tweeted: “I’ll be honest all this backlash is putting an emotional toll on me.
“I try to cover it with humor but it’s getting hard.
“My anxiety is higher than ever and stream Call Me By Your Name on all platforms now!”
Talking about his new single earlier this week, Lil Nas, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, penned an open letter to his younger self.
The brave star wrote about coming to terms with his sexuality and his hopes to normalise same-sex love.
The letter wrote: “Dear 14-year-old Montero,
“I wrote a song with our name in it. It’s about a guy I met last summer.
“I know we promised to never come out publicly, I know we promised to never be “that” type of gay person, I know we promised to die with the secret, but this will open doors for many other queer people to simply exist.

“You see this is very scary for me, people will be angry, they will say I’m pushing an agenda. But the truth is, I am. The agenda to make people stay the f*** out of other people’s lives and stop dictating who they should be. Sending you love from the future.”
Despite only relatively recently breaking onto the scene, Lil Nas has a staggering 21.2million monthly listeners on Spotify alone.
His collab with Billy Ray Cyrus Old Town Road recently became the first song in history to earn 3billion on-demand streams in the US.
