Kate Garraway threw her support behind Ben Shephard on Good Morning Britain as she explained he was “sensitive” when it came to speaking about women’s monthly cycles.
Ben, 46, and Kate, 54, were joined by broadcaster and author Emma Barnett who is campaigning to ensure that periods are no longer a taboo subject.
During the discussion about Emma’s new book, Kate turned to her co-star to praise him for his support.
Speaking to Emma, Ben said: “You know dipping in and out of the book I thoroughly enjoyed it.
“I not only enjoyed it but I learnt a lot about what you’re sharing and the people who contributed to the book.
“There are a lot of very entertaining and amusing stories and some quite heart wrenching stories as well.
“It’s a great read.”
“And you are very sensitive to these things Ben, I have to say.
“You’re very good and I feel like you ride the waves of all the women around you. I think very well, don’t you?”
Laughter erupted in the studio from former Health Secretary Jacqui Smith and journalist Iain Dale.
Before bashful Ben had a chance to respond, Kate interjected: “I mean you’re not a typical type of person to mock it are you?”
The Tipping Point star said: “I have learnt a lot from you over the years Kate.”
“You’ve learnt many things about me but not that,” joked Kate.
Jacqui Smith chimed: “Were surrounded by good men, how lovely.”
Earlier on in the show it was mentioned that both guest Jacqui Smith and Iain Dale had fought to ensure that tax was removed from tampons.
Iain Dale had spoke out on the subject in 1984 after he’d become outraged that women were charged tax for an essential product.
