Katy Cavanagh has had a long acting career dating back to the nineties, but she will forever be known as the lovable Julie Carp from Coronation Street.
She played the Underworld worker from 2008 to 2015, and fans were devastated when the actress announced that she was leaving Weatherfield.
In a statement announcing her departure from the soap, Katy said: “I have decided it’s time to take a break from the cobbles and pursue other projects and opportunities.
“I have loved every minute in the world of Julie Carp and I’m not ruling out a return to the Street in the future. However I am looking forward to a new challenge and a pair of flat shoes.”
Since then, Katy has not only continued to appear on our screens, but has been the voice of a popular supermarket and also manages the career of her very famous actor son.
Iceland ad
Some of the UK’s biggest celebrities have become the voices of some of our favourite supermarkets, and Katy Cavanagh has also joined in on the action.
In 2014 she was the voice of supermarket Iceland, and in the past, viewers might recognise her voice from a number of other adverts.
It has been reported that previously, Katy has also providing voice over for companies including Sainsburys, British Gas, Harvey Nichols and Andrex.
Huge net worth
Since leaving the cobbles of Coronation Street in 2015, Katy has continued acting in hit tv series including Birds of Feather as Miss Howe, Moving on as Clare and Lena Ferrera in Midsomer Murders.
She also starred in the tv comedy film Murder on the Blackpool Express in 2017, and most recently, Not Going Out as Karen in 2021.
Combined with her voice over work and long acting career, which has included roles in series including Daziel and Pascoe, The Cops and Bob & Rose, it’s no wonder that Katy has an estimated net worth of over $9 million (£6.8 million).
Famous husband
Katy’s famous family connections include her husband Chris Jupe, who is a film maker.
As well as having his own acting career before moving behind the scenes, he also has his own film production company called Funky Films.
As part of Funky Films, he has created projects including educational dramas and corporate films for brands, as well as being a videographer for billionaire Richard Branson.
Although Katy hasn’t revealed how long they have been together for and keeps much of their personal life private, the couple have three children together, called Noah, Jacobi and Jemima, with son Noah sharing adorable photos of him and his siblings on Instagram.
Managing children’s Hollywood careers
Acting certainly seems to run in the family, as both of Katy Cavanagh’s sons are destined for stardom, with eldest son Noah already landing major leading roles.
After leaving Coronation Street, Katy Cavanagh moved to Hollywood to manage her son Noah’s career, after he starred in programmes such as Downton Abbey and The Night Manager, before appearing in major blockbusters such as Wonder.
He has since appeared in A Quiet Place and the sequel to the hit film, A Quiet Place II – all by the age of 16 years old.
Fans of Katy Cavanagh were also amazed when they discovered that her son was one of the stars of hit Sky drama The Undoing, alongside Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, as their on-screen son Henry Fraser.
One fan took to social media to say: “Noah Jupe has been in a lot of big stuff. How interesting to see that he’s Katy Cavanagh-Jupe’s (Julie Carp) son.”
Another praised the famous family connection, saying: “Fact fans! Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant’s son in #TheUndoing played by Noah Jupe – is the real life son of #Corrie’s Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh). An acting dynasty.”
Talking about having his mum to support him, Noah Jupe told The Independent: “It’s a crazy world out there, and it’s an equally if not more crazy world in Hollywood or in the movie industry.
“So to have that close circle of people that I trust, my family or my close friends, is very important.”
The talent doesn’t stop there though, as Katy’s youngest son Jacobi is currently filming his debut role as Michael Darling in Disney’s Live Action film of Peter Pan too.
