Kerry Katona could have had a very different career if she hadn’t taken part in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! – and her husband at the time was one of the few who urged her not to take part.
Kerry confessed she was surprised when husband Brian McFadden flew to Australia to meet and congratulate her on the I’m a Celeb bridge after being crowned the Queen of the Jungle.
The Atomic Kitten singer had expected her late aunt Angela to be there to greet her instead.
Louis Walsh was behind convincing McFadden that the show was a good career move for Katona, the singer told Marnie Simpson on her podcast, Marnie’s Home Truths.
Brian and Kerry both wanted their family life at home, so Kerry opted to quit Atomic Kitten to become a stay at home mum.
“I quit Atomic Kitten because all I wanted to be was a mum, really. I wanted to be a mum and a wife and create that family environment so I gave that all up.”
“I got a bit bored and I got offered to do Loose Women, so I was one of the original Loose Women as well, and then I got offered the jungle and Brian said ‘no’.
“He said – God rest her soul – he went: ‘You’ll be the Jade Goody of the jungle – you’re not doing it.”
The 40-year-old reality star managed to relaunch her career after winning the challenging show.
“It was Louis Walsh who turned around and said, ‘You’ve got to let her do this because she needs to go to work’. Louis encouraged me to do it and I ended up winning.” Katona told Marnie.
The mum of five married Brian McFadden in 2002, just one year after they welcomed their daughter Molly McFadden on August 31, 2001.
Katona and McFadden later got divorced in 2006.
Her other previous marriages to Mark Croft and George Kay have also left her terrified of getting hitched to personal trainer Ryan Mahoney, 32, though it seems she’s still excited to walk down the aisle.
Katona told the Daily Mail, her hubby-to-be doesn’t remind her of any of her exes, adding that Ryan “enhances” her happiness.
