Laura Hamilton recalled a magical and gleeful Dancing on Ice experience but still couldn’t erase the nasty jibe that Jason Gardiner had made about her legs over 10 years ago.
Although the 38-year-old had zero regrets about the competition and would do it all over again in a heartbeat, the loose-tongued judge did leave a lasting mark in her memory.
Unbeknown to Jason when he critiqued her performance, he had actually found the TV presenter’s Achilles heel – which was her legs.
The mum-of-two explained it was her weak spot as her pins were the one thing she “always hated about herself”.

Speaking to Daily Star on Facebook Live about her relationship with the Australian choreographer – who left Dancing on Ice in 2019 – she revealed that she still quite liked Jason in spite of his horrid dig.
Laura explained: “I quite liked him, even though there were times when he sort of said things and I thought, ‘oh that’s horrible’, I did really like him.
“He says it as it is and there was a comment that I will always remember sticking in my mind about my legs being like tree trunks or something.

“And it’s the one thing that I have always hated about myself, my legs – they’re quite muscly. So when he said that, it did hit home – it’s one of those things that I’ve always hated.”
If there’s one thing the showbiz world has taught Laura, it’s to take things with a pinch of salt and therefore the property expert wasn’t hung up about it and certainly wasn’t holding any grudges.
The aspiring pilot added: “But ultimately you have to be thick-skinned, you just have to take it.
“It was him, it was what he said, and I didn’t hate him for it, it was like, ‘Okay, move on’.”

She went on: “And that was his role.
“He had to play that character and I think he did it well, but deep down he’s a lovely person.
“And actually, all credit to him for being able to do that because I think to take on that role when you know people are going to boo you, that’s quite a hard thing to do.”
The A Place In The Sun host took part in the iconic ITV show back in 2011 and did actually blow all of the judges away – including Jason – with her sheer commitment and seamless performances each week.
Hardworking Laura threw everything at the ice skating competition, confessing that she did “want to to make the final” but didn’t actually ever anticipate that she’d take the second spot.

Laura felt, being a Nickelodeon children’s presenter at the time, that she was “unknown” when compared with the other celebrities in the 2011 line-up.
Each week, Laura and pro-partner Colin Ratushniak continued to push boundaries, dazzling the squad of panellists with their stunning renditions and taking away almost perfect scores on a few occasions.
It was a very close final but, eventually, Eastenders actor Sam Attwater and Brianne Delcourt were crowned the winners.
